Who is the best active female German tennis player?
Alright so a German female Renaissance is occurring in womens tennis...the 5 big names of which are
Andrea Petkovic (ranked 10)
Sabine Lisicki (ranked 13)
Angelique Kerber (ranked 14)
Julia Goerges (ranked 17)
Mona Barthel (ranked 36...but will be up there with the girls above in no time)
Which of these girls do you think is the best and will have the most successful career? Do you think all of these girls can be in in the top 15 at once, because they are pretty close to achieving that!
Answer: This question has been asked so many times LOL, but the number of players included in the question grows every time!
Let me first say they are all terrific players and it's great they are all spurring each other on to reach their full potential.
I think Petkovic is the most consistent, she has very good and consistent ground-strokes, a good mover and a fairly good and reliable serve. It's a pity she's injured at the moment because she's such good fun and I was really looking forward to seeing her back up the terrific year she had last year. Hopefully she will be back on court soon. Overall I don't ever see her as a top five player but if she stays consistent and motivated I definitely see her being ranked between 8-15 over the next few years and doing well in the Grand Slams. Hopefully she can make a semi-final soon.
Lisicki for me has the most potential. She has a killer serve when it's working and her forehand is just lethal. Her attitude is brilliant and no matter of the scoreline she is always capable of getting back in matches and fights til the last point. She's also a big match player and can take out big scalps. Unfortunately, and especially so far this year, the inconsistent part of her game is showing and sometimes, similar to Kuznetsova, I don't know what thought process goes into some points during her matches and she can lose concentration easily. It can be very hit and miss and very erratic. She can also lose the timing on her serve and it can all look very sloppy, which I hate to see. Her movement is always improving. I find this so frustrating because she has so much potential and if she sorts these things out and starts to figure things out a bit more on court and get more consistent I think she has the best future out of all the German players and can go on to win Grand Slams!
Kerber has a nice lefty game, she hits a good ball and moves very well. I don't think her game is big enough to make it into the top ten, unless she becomes more aggressive but at the moment her ground-strokes are just very very solid and she moves unbelievably well. What's impressive is the improvement that she's made last year and this year and she's doing so well at the moment. I just don't know if she has the ''power'' to cope with the players at the top of the game. I don't think she will get into the top 10 and stay between 12-30.
Goerges really has it all when she's playing well, similar to Lisicki, but also there is not a lot of thought process in her game and sometimes the concentration is just not there. Her serve is good and her forehand is amazing when it's working, but more so than Lisicki it can all go horribly wrong. After the clay court season last year, she hardly won a match and those are the worrying signs for me, but I think she's on the right track again. Herself and Lisicki are very similar when it comes to capabilities and potential, but the mental side is much better for Lisicki. Goerges has yet to do well in a Grand Slam, I think she's only made it to the fourth round once, and she doesn't beat too many of the best players, apart from Wozniacki haha, but other than that she has yet to prove that she can close out matches and beat the top players in the big tournaments. I can see Goerges get into the top 10, maybe even top 5 if she gets more experience, but I don't see her winning a Grand Slam. She's also defending a lot of points over the next month or two so I'm not sure what she'l be ranked by the time it's the French Open.
I don't know much about Barthel. I actually picked her to make the semi-finals at the start of Miami and so far so good! I remember her playing Elena Baltacha in Wimbledon last year, and I didn't see much back then and definitely didn't predict her to have the year she's having now! When you watch her, she knows she's a good player and she has a lot of self-belief in her. The way she won Auckland at the start of the year was very impressive because it didn't seem like she was getting nervous what so ever! She just played her game. I think she can make the top 20 definitely, I have to watch her more to really see what I think of her and how much potential she has. It will be interesting to see her during the clay court season.
I think all have great potential and are all really good players, with Lisicki having the most potential.

What kind of a dampener is this and where can I buy it? Prince o3?
Im looking for this dampener. I asked to Prince but they didnt reply me.
It also helps to determine the string tension. In this photo Sabine Lisicki is using it.
http://deportes.orange.es/deportes/img/efe/2115551.jpg
Answer: It's just a shock absorber, nothing special about it? You can get them in all shapes and sizes, I prefer the smiley and sad face or the wilson "W". Usually they cost about £5. I had a mate who just used a rubber band lol.
Babolat do elongated dampeners....http://www.tennisnuts.com/shop/other-sports-deparments/grips-dampeners/babolat-grips-dampeners/babolat-vibrakill-dampener-black-690467.html
If you get a closed string pattern, the dampener is a lot less likely to fall off. The dampeneer ought to have no effect on the tension of your strings. String your racquets at the tension that gives you the best balance of control v.s power.
You can get one of those in literally, any sports shop. Depending what country you live in. You can get them online for sure...

Who is currently the best female German player?
Seemingly out of no where, Angelique Kerber makes it into the US Open semis...I havent been shaking my head this hard since the Yanina Wickmayer / Kateryna Bondarenko quarterfinal of 09...
Is she the best German player or is it...
Andrea Petkovic: shes made it to the QFs of 3/4 slams this year
Julia Goerges: Beat Woz in back-to-back weeks on clay this spring
Sabine Lisicki: Wimbledon semifinalist
Or other..
Answer: I didn't realise but yeah looking at it now Germans have some gr8 female players.
From the 4 Goerges, Lisicki, Kerber, and Petkovic. I would say Lisicki is the most talented and has to be a future number 1 and slam winner.
Petkovic could be a top 5 player.
Goerges could be a top 10 player.
Kerber could be a top 15 player.

All in all, do you think the WTA results at the Aussie Open were actually ... not surprising?
All four pre-tournament favourites (besides Serena) are in the Final 4: Clijsters, Azarenka, Sharapova, and Kvitova.
This is probably the first time where there is no surprise SFst like Angelique Kerber or Sabine Lisicki (yes, she is good but was a surprise).

Answer: Clijsters and Sharapova will lose

Category: Tennis
who besides the williams sisters and dementieva have a shot at roland garros?
its obvious the mens is nadal but the women is intresting to watch
i think victoria azarenka
caroline wozniacki
sabine lisicki
or vera zvonareva will have a good chance
who do u think will have a better chance out of those 4 or u can tell me who u think thats not one of the 4 thanks
Answer: Hands down I will put my money on the Williams 1st....
bt as they are not in the list...
So I will pick ANA (I think she is a good clay court player & she had experience to win the Slam on clay in the Open Era,other than Serena)
Next I think Azarinka,Vera & Wozniacki all are playing gr8...So all hv some chance..
Bt I strongly believe that Grand slam & other tourney's are diff,So here the Williams & Dementieva's can take the cake more easily than the new young lots... :)

Who is cuter between Ashley Hackleroad and Sabine Lisicki? and who has more potential?
I know Ashley rank higher but Sabine is younger and the way she beat Lindsay the other day show that she might have alot of potential.
Answer: Sabine Lisicki probably has more potential because as you mentioned she is younger than Ashley Harkleroad, but beyond that she has more power in her game. Harkleroad is strictly a counterpuncher who has good foot speed and can get a lot of shots back, but lacks any big weapons. Lisicki seems to be able to generate more power in her groundstrokes.

What chance do you give Sabine Lisicki of beating Maria Sharapova out of 10?
Do you think she has a chance of winning and getting through to the final? Also do you think it will be a close, high quality match?
Answer: Hey Kev! nice to see you again :D
Sabine is just amazing! I didn't expect much from her before Wimbledon started, but what a fighter...Her match against Li Na was just EPIC and she saved 3 match points(or maybe 2??).She served 4 consecutive 120+ mph serves(120,122,123,124) and it was unbelievable! She definitely has the best serve on tour at the moment! She has won Birmingham and is on a winning streak of 11 on grass(I think)! I think grass suits her game very well and imo it's her best surface!
Maria is playing beautiful tennis! She wasn't so impressive in the first week. She was a bit sluggish and the serve wasn't really good, but the moment she 2nd week started, she started playing brilliantly! The match against Peng in R4 was so HQ and Peng tried her best, but Maria totally outplayed her(and we know Peng is a very tough opponent). I was a bit scared of Cibulkova tbh, but the second Maria stepped on the court she showed her who's the boss. She was so determined to get revenge and wanted that SF badly! She played like a Grand Slam champion and if she can keep up that form she will win this tournament! She couldn't make a GS QF in 2 years and now she is playing her 2nd GS SF in less than a month! When she is healthy, she definitely plays awesome tennis!
I give Sabine 4/10.
I can't say it's 5:5 because Masha is the favorite. She has been in late stages of Slams a lot more than Sabine and I think the experience will definitely help her! I think it will be a HQ match and a 3 set thriller. I think Maria will win the 1st set and then everyone will expect her to win the 2nd even easier. She will be up a break in the 2nd, but then nerves will catch up with her and she will choke and Sabine will start hitting aces! She will win the 2nd set in sensational fashion! In the 3rd, Maria will find champion form again and will have a mini-comeback and win the match in 3 dramatic sets.
I predict a 6-3 5-7 6-4 win for Maria :D
@Mexi: Can you please un-block me so I can answer your question? lol

First time GS finalist for women no matter what?
Who do you think it will be?
Angelique Kerber
Sabine Lisicki
Agnieszka Radwanska
Maria Kirilenko
BQ: Which one has the best chance to make it to multiple GS finals or even win one or two?
Answer: It's hard to choose, Radwanska must be the favorite to reach the final, but Lisicki has a very good record at Wimbledon and Kerber is the real breakthrough star of the past 12 months.
I think Radwanska will reach the final, but i hope Lisicki.
BQ - Again hard to choose, i don't see Kirilenko reaching multiple Grand slam finals, but the other 3 all could in the future.

I really want her to if she doesnt have any injurys!
BQ: Did you know Tomic has ha more success than Wozniacki at Wimbledon? What do you think about it?

BQ: LOL

Can one of the following players make it to the finals of the USO .... and/or win it?!?
One of these four players will make the semis of the US Open: (13) Peng Shuai, Monica Niculescu, Angelique Kerber, and (26) Flavia Pennetta. Do you think one of these four players can pull off the craziest One Slam Wonder in womens tennis history?
** Their possible opponents in the semifinals include: (25) Maria Kirilenko, (9) Sam Stosur, (2) Vera Zvonareva, (22) Sabine Lisicki.
Answer: Pennetta by far!
Pennetta because she's actually won a doubles slam! She knows all the volleying tricks thats why i think she beat Masha coz she doesn't volley that much!
** Vera will win the USO title! if she can get past Lisicki who she beat whenLisicki was in form and she wasn't!
I wan't a Vera-Flavia SF i love both characters and i wouldn't mind seeing Flavia or Sabine going to the finals because there both loveable characters and have goo sportsmanship. Unlike Woz who just complains and complains especially when she's with Saine! Can you get over it Caroline!

What happened to Sabine Lisicki, the tennis player?
I saw that she got injured while playing and couldnt finish the game. What did she do? Did she break something or pull something? It must have been bad because she couldnt get up and walk off the court.
Im not a tennis fan but I just saw this story on Yahoo a couple minutes ago and it piqued my interest.
Answer: That was a few years ago actually. Yeah it was awful. She had match points against her opponent, so basically she only needed to win one more point to win the match. Basically during the last point, she was off balance and her opponent hit her a ball and she ended up falling and twisting her ankle. She ended up not being able to continue and they had to carry her off the court. Really bad luck for her, she was headed into the top 20 players in the world and her injury set her back and she hasnt been the same player since.
Edit: Wow I had no idea but I guess it happened to her again today! Wow that is horrible luck for such a young and good player. She needs to work on her fitness and footwork so things like that dont happen again and again. Poor Sabine hope she gets better!
