What NFL Stadium do you think has the most lively and welcoming atmosphere?
There are a lot of stadiums in the NFL that are good and bad. Watching Steelers games Ive always had the opinion that Heinz Field looks very dark and sort of intimidating. Whereas other stadiums like Qwest Field are a lot more fan friendly. What stadium do you think has the most lively and welcoming atmosphere?
Answer: Yeah, Qwest field looks amazing. I think it's the best looking stadium in the NFL.
Other good ones must be Lambeau Field and Arrowhead Stadium. I bet they are sort of like a museums because of all the history there.
The only one I've been to is Giants Stadium. The traffic was terrible (as always in NJ) and it didn't feel welcoming. I hope the new Meadowland Stadium is better.

What NFL team will Jordan Shipley and Colt McCoy be playing on?
Okay, so I am definitely a Texas fan andI know Colt will be going NFL and hopefully Jordan, too. What teams are they planning on going to? And are they going to be playing the same positions, too? I know Colt probably wont since hell be a rookie, but what about Jordan Shipley? And please dont give answers like "they suck and theyll never make it to NFL" because I know they will if they want.
Answer: McCoy is pretty fragile so i don't see him being a high draft choice or a starter in the NFL. Shipley, however will be a star in the NFL within a few years. He reminds me of wes welker. It's impossible to say what team they go to though as the draft is based on which NFL teams have the worst record and what positions those teams need. If a team drafting in the first round needs a receiver than Shipley will be one of the first taken. McCoy will probably not be drafted in the first couple rounds. Someone will pick him up for sure, but who that someone is is impossible to say. Those teams will not draft him with their first selection though.

How likely is it that a NFL franchise will setup outside the states?
If the NFL is serious about tapping into more global audience, how far down the road is an international franchise (within sensible parameters)
Answer: Very Likely. The NFL has been pushing for the Bills to move to Toronto for a couple of years now. That is why Buffalo has played a couple of games the last few seasons in Toronto. Besides LA and
Vegas there is no other place in the U.S that could support a NFL team and I think you can mark Vegas of the list because of the gambling issue.

How come throughout Southern California, everyone is a fan of random different NFL teams, or just every team?
throughout Southern California, you will find people who are fans of every NFL team, for example, you will run into a Raiders fan, Cowboys fan, Steelers fan, Patriots fan, Browns fan, Packers fan, Bears fan, 49ers fan, Chargers fan, and on and on. Is it because there is no NFL team in Los Angeles, the L.A. Metropolitan are which includes Orange County, Riverside, Ventura County? or is it because Southern California is full of transplants, people that originated from other states, regions, cities, that they will root and cheer for their old hometown team eventhough they moved to California.
does Southern California have more transplants than any other region, area in the United States? Also, I cant remember running into somebody who is a non-Laker fan, or a non-Angel fan, non-Dodger fan, like I cant remember ever finding somebody who is a fan of other NBA or MLB teams besides the Lakers, Angels, and Dodgers.
and I have run into a lot of Steelers and Cowboys fans, and other teams, who are not even from those states, areas, regions, cities on which those teams are from, is it because since there is no NFL team in L.A., they feel they gotta support some team?
Answer: it's a combination of both transplants and not NFL team in the Nations second largest city and Metropolitan area

How much do NFL coaches pay attention to high school and college football?
Do NFL coaches watch a lot of high school and college football? It seems like they would have to in order to know whos good. Do they do this in the off-season? Or do they have people in the organization who bring players to their attention?
Answer: Well, the colleges pay very close attention to high school ball as they are the one's who will recruit and offer scholarships to the best of the bunch and of course the same is true for the NFL coaches to very closely watch the colleges for their future players. This is what the draft is all about. I think being a scout for one of the NFL teams would be a fantastic job.

Peters Is Making a Name for Himself
At 6 feet 4 inches and 340 pounds, Jason Peters would seem to be a hard guy not to notice, particularly for N.F.L. coaches. After all, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.94 seconds, blazing fast for a man his size. But all 32 N.F.L. teams passed on Peters in the 2004 draft. Then 31 teams ignored him a second time as a free agent. Peterss peers know him - Buffalo Bills left tackle Jason Peters has allowed only two sacks in 14 games; photo (M) - By MATT HIGGINS

What legislation is there (or has been proposed) to provide NFL players with health and retirement benefits? Im writing a research paper for my business law class and the prof wants me to answer this question. I am having trouble finding any legislation relating to the health and retirement benefits of athletes. Does anyone know of any legislation?
Answer: This would not be a matter for legislation any more than the health and retirement benefits of any other citizen. Should be entirely between the NFL, as a business, and its players, as much overpaid employees.

How does the physicality of NFL compare to rugby?
Now, I want completely unbias answers. NFL has the big hits, however pads soften the blows. Rugby however has more rules in that department but still has some crushing blows, and no pads are worn. Comparisons?
Answer: Pads don't soften the blow, on the contrary, players use them as ramming weapons against other players resulting in significant injuries. Rugby players don't require pads because as you say, the tackling is more restricted. Once in a blue moon Rugby players land a major blow. NFL players land major blows all the time.

NFL Question about a 15 yard roughing kicker and illegal formation, why do they offset?
In the NFL Sunday night game, Bears roughed the punter and the Eagles had an illegal formation. I thought the rule was the 15 yarder overrules the 5 yarder and they do not offset. Why did a major penalty and a minor penalty offset?
Answer: From Jerry Markbreit, NFL official:
"When both teams foul during a play, the penalties will generally offset and the down replayed at the previous line of scrimmage. Under NFL rules, if one of the penalties is a 5-yard penalty and the other is a 15-yard penalty, the 5-yard penalty is declined by rule and the 15-yard penalty is enforced from the previous line of scrimmage no matter where the ball wound up at the end of the play. The only exception to this five/fifteen rule is when there is a possession change during the down. Under this situation, the penalties would offset"
So, normally you would be right, but because the play was a punt, the exception applied.

What is the chart called that shows how NFL teams work their way to the Superbowl?
I am looking for a chart that shows how NFL teams are matched and how the games are set to work their way to the Superbowl. A chart similar to a tree that shows two teams that played each other, the winner, and then who the winner of that game plays and so on. Dont know what this chart is called, but they have them for all sorts of sports. What is this chart called and where can I find one?
Answer: Yes.. I think the chart you're talking about is called a bracket.
However, you can't do a NFL playoff bracket like you can in many sports. That's because the highest remaining seeded team plays the lowest remaining seeded team after the first round of the playoffs.
6 teams in each NFL conference make the playoffs. These teams are seeded #1 through #6.
The #1 and #2 seeds get a first round bye.. the first round is called the Wild Card Round. For the wild card matchups, the #6 seed plays the #3 seed, and the #5 seed plays the #4 seed.
So, you don't know which wild card winners will be playing against the #1 seed or the #2 seed in the divisional round. That's because the lowest seed that wins in the wild card round plays the #1 seed, and the other wild card winner plays the #2 seed.
So you can't really do a solid playoff bracket until there are 4 teams remaining in each conference. At that point you can draw a good bracket with 8 teams leading to the Super Bowl.

What separates the worst NFL team from the greatest college team?
I just do not see it. Sorry. 2001 Miamis lines could have competed in the NFL and this years Alabama is legit.
If it comes down to the interior lines, I am not buying it.
The NFL is a bit overrated in my opinion. All their players come from the college ranks--or at least most of them--so why do they think their teams are so superior?
Answer: You keep asking these questions about whether or not a college team could compete in the NFL, which makes me think that either you're 12 years old, or you have some type of mental handicap.
The 2001 Hurricanes could not have competed in the NFL, nor could this year's Alabama. For Miami, outside of Bryant McKinnie on the offensive line and Vince Wilfork on the defensive line, nobody else made ANY type of impact in the NFL. But at the end of the day, Ken Dorsey was their QB, and that would spell doom for that team in the NFL.
Now take Alabama. Can't use players from this year's team, since none of them have ever competed at the NFL level. But you can use players from the last couple of years. Alabama has had a number of early round draft picks, and guess what, most are struggling. Mark Ingram, Terrence Cody, Mark Barron, Rolando McClain, Javier Arenas, etc.
If the best players from the best team basically has nothing but a bunch of marginal NFL players, that team isn't going to be able to compete, and you should quit lying to yourself into believing such nonsense.

Why is ESPN wasting their money and airing NFL Live during the off season?
ESPN has aired NFL Live everyday this offseason and with the same non-important things. They talk about Brett Favre and retiring and whos gonna win the next superbowl. Why do theye do this when they could have things like Baseball Tonight.
Do you agree that its unnessecary to have this one during the offseason?
Answer: Well they are not wasting money because people are watching. For some reason or another people get off on watching 10 million screen shots of football plays while Trey Wingos replacemnt for the summer is flapping his yap.
The problem is with NFL live in the off season is they over anaylize crap in refernce to offseason moves, talk about drama news like Brett Farve coming back , or Adam Pacman Jones's personal life, or Chad Johnson's antics and it basically becomes NFL's verson of "Showbiz tonight".

How do ties factor in to NFL Strength of Victory Tiebreaker Calculations?
Have a really specific NFL question for a football league Im in: when applying the NFL tiebreaker, specifically strength of victory, how are a teams ties factored in? The specific wording on the strength of victory is "teams that the team in question has beaten". Does this mean that the tie games should be ignored and the only games that should be factored in are the victories, or should the tie games be factored in as well, or should only half of the record of the tie games be counted? My head is spinning.
Answer: For tie breaking purposes, strength of victory is defined as the combined winning percentage of the opponents a team has beaten.
Like you said, the key phrase is "has beaten". So if your team had a tie game, that opponent's winning percentage isn't included in the calculation.
If a team had two victories over a division opponent, that opponent's winning percentage is added in twice. If a tie was involved and a team was 1-0-1 against the division opponent, the division opponent's winning percentage would be added in once.
However, ties can come into play when you start calculating the winning percentage of the teams you beat. A team's winning percentage is simply the number of wins divided by the number of games played. But for winning percentage the NFL counts ties as a half win so you have to consider that in the math.
For example, if one of the teams ended the season with a 10-5-1 record you'd calculate their winning percentage with: 10.5 / 16 or 0.65625.

How does the NFL control the use of the helmet radio signal calls?
NFL quarterbacks and now selected defensive players have a radio receiver imbedded in their helmets for hearing play calls from the sidelines.
What precautions does the league have to prevent someone using a frequency scanner from listening in and relaying the called play to the other team?
And, what precautions does the league have to prevent someone in the stands, or even someone miles away, from flooding the frequencies used for the communications with a much stronger signal?
Answer: It's pretty simple actually. There's a one-way radio in the QB's (and defensive captian's) helmet. The play is relayed in by the head coach or coordinator to the player on the field. The player on the field has no ability to say anything back to the coaches on the sidelines.
The frequencies used differ for each team and are changed for every team, for every game.
The NFL has strict rules about who is privy to what these frequencies are. The only people with access to (or knowledge of) the frequencies are the individual teams' field managers, a representative from the NFL Oversight Committee, the designated Replay Official (the one in the booth), and a representative of the New England Patriots coaching staff.
That way, the NFL can ensure that there's no possible way that one team can gain a competetive advantage over another.
