How is graffiti artist Banksy getting money when nobody knows who he is ?
Im guessing he is male, but how is he managing to get so much money, when nobody knows who he is. Could anyone pretend to claim that they are Banksy ? How does he do it ?
Answer: He probably isn't alone and has a team of people that helps with PR, money, and legal situations. He most likely does all the art himself but everything else could be handled by other people.

How can i make a picture I have look like a Banksy picture?
I want to make a picture i have into a Banksy style picture/ have the style of a Banksy stencil but have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any ideas please?
Answer: Use photoshop or a similar program to severely turn up the contrast. Then you will get the clear black and white stencil style you desire. You could print this out and make it into a stencil, spraypainting or colouring the darker areas. Hope this helps.

What is your opinion on Banksy work and why?
Banksy, the graffiti artist. What do you think of his work? Find it interesting? Do you like it or dislike it?
Pick one of his art and tell me what it means to you && what message you thought he was trying to portray.
Answer: I like his work. It is fairly basic in that they are stencils but still look good. They can also be both stencil and complex. I like them a lot and also that of Blek le Rat.
As for what they mean to me and messages I have no idea. I like them. They are vaguely humorous and anarchic in their appearance but that is all. I don't go in for deep meanings in art and all that deep philosophical stuff. A picture is a picture. It might tell a story but that is all for me. How I view it is going to be very different to the next person. I think Banksy is very tongue in cheek with his work.

Answer: I love Banksy, I think he's one of the few graffiti artists who actually get the point of graffiti. I'm lucky enough to live in NYC, and be able to get to see his work first hand. He doesn't just scribble a stupid, trite, meaningless tag on the wall, he always says something.
There's the classic bomb hugging little girl that I'm sure a lot of people recognize, symbolizing our societies evident love for war, but I think the irony in this piece is really poignant:

I am an art history major writing my senior thesis on Banksy, and I need help finding a more complete list of what museums show his work. I am specifically looking for art institutions that have bought his art and put it in their galleries. I am also interested in what its like to curate graffiti art, so any info on that would be helpful as well. Thanks!

How did Banksy do the Simpsons opening without revealing his identity.?
Seriously, how did no one at fox leak it? He had to have worked with lots of people, all of whom now know who Banksy is. Does anyone know anything about this?
Answer: Executive producer Al Jean first took note of Banksy after seeing his 2010 film "Exit Through the Gift Shop." According to Jean, "The concept in my mind was, 'What if this graffiti artist came in and tagged our main titles?'" "Simpsons" casting director Bonnie Pietila was able to contact the artist through the film's producers, and asked if he would be interested in writing a main title for the show. Jean said Banksy "sent back boards for pretty much what you saw."

What are the moral arguments for a building owner selling a Banksy on his property?
It has been argued that the person who removed the Banksy artwork and tried to sell it in the US had every right to do so. But as the work (and the wall it was on) was in a public space, shouldnt the owner have applied for planning permission before removing the artwork? And wouldnt the local council have refused such permission on cultural grounds?
Answer: What if the painting wasn't labelled a "Banksy" and was just some other graffiti?
That could quite seriously be successfully prosecuted for criminal damage.
I'm assuming the owner of the premises didn't ask for the graffiti or give permission for the painting on their wall.
The wall is not public property. Is the wall of your house or body work of your car public property just because it can be seen from the public street?
Although it was incredibly self serving and opportunist of the wall owner to remove a section of it that had some paint on it, they were absolutely entitled to do so.

Why do graffiti artists and street artists hate Banksy?
Ive heard that there a lot of street artists and graffiti artists that really hate Banksy. Why?
Answer: im a graffiti writer and i don't hate him that much. thanks to him i discovered graffiti but the effects of his work on other people does my head in. it makes toys (people that are new to graffiti/street art) create little A4 sized stencil that are rubbish and pointless and their known to go over good tags and think their better than anyone else + they don't know the difference between graffiti and street art so they annoy both sides.
also banksy is also overrated. anyone could learn to make stencils in 5 minutes

Original Banksy Artwork Sold for $30 at New York Street Stall
The street artist practically gave his work away for free from an unassuming street stand in New York on Saturday.
What is your opinion on Banksys work? How does his graffiti impact your perception on modern society?
I am currently studying the impact of Banksys controversial graffiti as part of my school project. Thank you so much for helping me by answering these questions :)
For those who are not familiar with Banksy, you can check out his work in www.banksy.co.uk
Answer: I hold a great respect for it.
First of all he assaults you with the fact that it's graffiti. So it's not permanent, it's slightly naughty/illegal. Secondly, it's graphic visually. He mixes up a variety of styles from urban to stenciled imagery to create provocative statements that challenge us socially to think. His visuals and text provide us with puns that have more than one layer of consciousness. The joke makes us think twice about the message. That's smart. He's not being a smart-***, he challenges us about socially relevant issues, about art, about politics, about what we perceive to be important. This is what art truly is about. It is a documentation of our times, a questioning of what is perceived as truth. He sees the irony and hypocrisy of our mundane lives (at times) and asks us to view a larger picture.
These are the things that make banksy's work good. Plus he's very guerilla about his tactics and strategy, creating an air of mystery and "naughty boyishness" about the work, further endearing us to his social rebellion to the status quo of the Ivory Tower Elitism of the more conventional art world.

How can you tell Banksy art is by the man himself and not a copycat artist.?
The paper this week featured a new piece of artwork by renowned graffiti artist Banksy ( a headless Polar bear with an Iceland shopping trolleyy). But how is it possible for people to tell this is really the work of Banksy himself and not a copycat artist or someone trying to replicate Bankys style.
Answer: While Banksy is anonymous the agent is not and is known to the press (as is Banksy to some members of the press) an attempt to copy a work and sell it under that name would soon be revealed. However Banksy might not see a problem in this.

How did thieves remove Banksy artwork from wall without breaking it to pieces?
Ive removed plenty of render from walls and it never just comes away in pieces as large as the Banksy artwork, if its been put on properly in the first place. Also how do you do it so that nobody sees or hears you on a busy street?
Answer: That's the damn cheek of it all.
As if stealing a piece of wall from Haringay wasn't bad enough.

That's restored a piece of English heritage that wouldn't need restoring if it hadn't been stolen in the first place!

Do you think Banksy prints will be worth more in the future?
Banksy has been growing in popularity over the last 5 years and is becoming as established in the art world as Warhol. Now the prints sell on ebay for £5000. Do you think that the value will continue to rise in the future? What do you think theyll be worth in ten years time?
Answer: The more Banksy sells for the less he becomes worth as an established artist, given that the premise of his art is about the true nature of democracy and socialism.
There was an article in the times a year or so ago claiming to be Banksy, talking about how his disenchantment with the art world had reduced him to sealing his own fate by selling his pieces for large amounts of money, there in destroying the future worth of his work as consequentially the meaning behind them had been ameliorated. He produces rarely these days. If the article was real, I consider it a really intelligent and original way to ensure his retirement. So basically, no, no they won't.

Is creating one of my final GSCE art pieces around the work of Banksy risky?
My art teacher has encouraged me to have a mixture of studies to fall back on, but there is the big issue with is Banksys work cheeky yet passionate art or mindless scribble? Personally I find that the issues and morals are brilliantly raised and I studied graffiti art twice before. The issue is that if the examiner views Banksy and other artists work as vandalism, my grade could be put down. Should I risk it?
Answer: Bansky is a contreversial artist as it is- is his work a piece of art? is one such example (another being the locations of his works)
however, it sounds like a good idea to centre your work around that of Banksys as it could help to stand you out from the rest of the GCSe art candidates (i did my art gcse 3 years ago and everyone seemed focus their work on andy warhol so i decided to centre mine around someone different).
I dont know how much art gcse has changed from when i did mine 3 years ago, but when i did mine we had to produce research (obviously in an artisitic manner) of the artists we were influenced by in our work. If you can produce a thorough piece of research that shows you know what you want to do (potentially include the fact that you know banksy is bit of a contreversial artist) then i dont see how you could be downgraded for it.
Talk with your art teacher as well as they will probably be more informed about this too.
