Because the cavs are looking at Ricky Rubio, but he will be in the top 5 in the draft. Could the cavs just sign him if he doesnt want to enter the draft?

Answer: If they have rights to him they can. that is kind of a slippery slope and that is why they have such strict rules and agents when it comes to drafting. he has to declare for the nba or at least sign with the team if he goes as a free agent without rights.

Compared to the NFL and Baseball and even MMA nobody cares about the NBA anymore. Tim Tebow being signed is a bigger story than the NBA finals.

I think the NBA should allow full contact like football or at least duking it out after hard fouls like in hockey! Better yet they should allow both those and bench clearing brawls like they allow in baseball all the time. If the malice at the palice took place several times a season or in the nba finals and we got to see players like Lebron James fistfight Giants like dwight howard I think the NBA would be far more popular than the NFL!

Answer: Right now every team needs a fair chance to win, So get some good players on bad teams and you will see a difference.

How do I properly play NBA 2K9 PC without a controller of any kind?

I just dug out of a closet NBA 2K9 for PC so I decided to try it out. Once I installed it and tried the tutorial, it showed at the bottom some controls that are controller-like, for example, B6. There is no B6 button on the keyboard! It wont even let me remap the control to something like, say, Spacebar.
Is there a setting that will change these to Keyboard+Mouse friendly controls.

im not sure of my future profession i want to do but NBA is perfect for me.i can play a bit and im already 6 feet 3 inches at 15 years old.what courses should i take in college?

Answer: I know a lot of kids that had your height at your age back in high school.
These kids came in with a lot of potential because of their height for their age.
Most that I know only did mediocre or stopped playing altogether.

If you want to be in the NBA you need to develop your skills because at the NBA level(even at the high school level and especially at the elite high school level) usually they will be at or above your height its the skills and skill set that will differentiate the player.
If your in high school look up the rankings for your graduating class on recruiting websites.
Watch those kids tapes and see what you have to be on par with.

Ive been following the NBA since the start of the season and its wonderful! It gets absolutely no coverage in England and if mentioned its pretty much just dismissed as rubbish (Personally I think it may be preferable to Football/Soccer, which does seem criminal to contemplate).

Ive been trying to get my head around the rules and I dont think Im doing too badly. Im just unsure around the offensive 3 seconds in the key rule. I cant work out if the 3 seconds is; 3 seconds within the inner lines flanking the painted area, or, 3 seconds within the outer lines flanking the painted area (A foot or so outside the inner lines if Im any making sense). Also, is the semi-circle within which a player takes a free throw considered part of this 3 second zone?

Anyway, my main question surrounds the Draft. I know the 14 sides missing the playoffs go into a weighted Lottery, where the poorer a teams performance throughout the season, the greater their chance of getting the first pick. Im just wondering how the playoff sides fit into the Draft. Do they miss out on any lotteries altogether and just go into the Draft in reverse order based on their results in the 2 confrences? Do they miss out on the Draft altogether? Do they have their own lottery where the poorest team in the playoffs gets the best chance at getting the 15th pick?

Ive got no idea. Ive researched most of the other bits and bobs surrounding the NBA which confuse me but it doesnt seem easy to get information on the Draft for the Playoff sides (Probably because its common sense if youve grown up with it).

(P.S. If anyone has any influence over NBA fixture scheduling Id appreciate it if you brought your tip off times forward say 6 or 7 hours. Some of the European NBA fans have jobs to do. Answer: The 16 teams that go to playoffs are placed in a draft order depending on regular season record. For example, if the Heat have the best record in the NBA they get the last pick in the draft (30th) and if the, oh I don't know, the Bucks sneak into the playoffs as an eight seed and have the worst record of any playoff team they get the 15th pick in the draft. (Lottery teams that didn't make the playoffs get picks 14-16).

When was the last time the NBA finals started before the Stanley Cup finals?

Even since Ive been an NBA fan the Stanley Cup finals are usually an entire series ahead of the NBA playoffs. So while the NBA is wrapping up their conference finals the NHL is getting started on their finals. This has been the case every year that I can remember (29 year old die hard NBA fan) except this year. Does anyone know why this is? Has this ever happened before?

Answer: I guess it depends on many NBA games went 7 games. If I'm not mistaken, atleast one series of every round went 7 games this year. I"m not sure if that helps...

What is the difference between Nba 2k10 and Nba Live?

Answer: You can play NBA 2k10 online too! Plus, it has My Player Mode which is awesome! Live doesn't have that mode. You should get NBA 2K10, I have it and I'm very happy and it's my favorite game!

How come some college players succeed in the NBA while others fail?

I dont understand why players like J.J. Reddick and Adam Morrison werent as successful in the NBA as other rookie, like Deron Williams. Is it because they simply failed to adjust to the game or is it because of the teams theyre on?

I mean, I already have a feeling Tyler Hansborough wont make the transition from college to NBA while players like O.J. Mayo, Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose will very likely succeed.

This appears to have happen in the past too, as many of the college record holders are complete unknowns in the NBA.

Answer: Not everyone can maintain the level of competition or handle the pressures of being in the NBA. Granted, every player drafted (Even Kwame Brown LOL) was a great high school/college star, but there's always someone better.

Health has a lot to do with it too.

it is impossible for non-nba players to participate in the dunk contest, D-League players are a different story, you could petition to the NBA commissioner's office because you are actually part of the the league, but anything under the NBA which includes the dunk contest is Legally Licensed to players who are contracted to the NBA or its Affiliates, in other words a referee has a better chance of being in the dunk contest then a street baller

How will Nba fans react if the season is cancelled? Will the Nba lose fans for good?

At this point after meetings between the nba preps/owners and nbapa the two sides have made little 2 no movement about the revenue split and cap. Some people feel the season will not happen.

Answer: The NBA will lose a few fans for good. There are always those people who take a labor disagreement as a personal offense and refuse to watch a game ever again.

Diehard fans will return as soon as play starts, grumbling maybe, but they'll still be there watching games. What the NBA will lose is the casual fan. Last year a lot of people tuned into the playoffs to see the "good guy" Mavs go up against the "evil" Heat. If the season is delayed, or lost for good, those casual fans will find something else to do. They won't be lost forever, but bringing them back will be difficult.

What is the worst start (as far as there record) an NBA team has ever had that went on to win an NBA Championship the same year?

Answer: The 2006 Miami Heat were 17-13 through their 1st 20 games and finished the season 35-17 for an overall record of 52-30. The 1998 Chicago Bulls were 12-8 to start the season and won the NBA Finals too.

The team that won an NBA Championship with the lowest seed were the 93-94 Rockets that won the title as a 6th seed in the West. They however started the season on fire @ 19-1 through their first 20 games. As the season moved along they cooled down a bit but finished the season with an overall record of 58-24 (6th in West).

Why does the NBA have more bandwagon fans compared to other sports?

Compared to the NBA, NFL, and MLB, why does the NBA have the most bandwagon fans? I noticed people will like a team just cause of a player, or like the flashiest team, or the most successful. I feel like this isnt as common in other sports. Other sports fans will like their hometown team, or stick with one team. Not just like a team cause of a player, or cause their good/flashy.

Answer: Because the league is based on a few superstars per team and many teams don't have a huge marketed superstar. Players move more frequently in the NBA opposed to NFL... or even in MLB it seems like if a superstar doesn't like his team he can just wiggle his way out of the city through a trade....
