Whats a good Marriage Equality charity to promote/support?
I am going to be participating in a project in which people choose a charity that they want to encourage others to donate to.
I would really like to highlight a charity that is working for marriage equality, but I dont know what to pick.
Any suggestions for a well-respected charity that is doing good work for this cause would be greatly appreciated.

Answer: Human Rights Campaign is a great organization to donate to, they not only work towards marriage equality, but LGBT rights in general, such as the repealing of Don't Ask Don't Tell.

Isnt it sort of deceptive to call it marriage equality when its only campaigning for same sex marriage, and not any of the other restrictions on marriage?
Answer: It's always the same old story with the left wing. They use misinformation and deception to cover their goals. Mislabeling is one of their favorite tricks to muddy the water and confuse the issue.
The government needs to get out of regulating marriage altogether! So long as it is consenting adults it is not the government's business.

Does the anti-marriage equality admit that the right to marriage equality is in the Constitution?
The anti-marriage equality lobby has repeatedly proposed "defense of marriage" amendments to the Constitution to ban any marriage types other than monogamous straight marriage. Considering the fact that they admit that a constitutional amendment is needed to eliminate the right to marriage equality, doesnt that mean that they are admitting that the right to marriage equality is already in the Constitution.
Afterall, the 9th Amendment says "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." Because the 14th Amendment says that no state may "deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws," this means that, like the rest of the rights protected by the Bill of Rights, this right would also be incorporated into the states and therefore state anti-marriage equality laws and amendments would be unconstitutional.

Answer: That's going to be one for the Supreme Court and legislators. Domestic partnership is a Civil union for Legal purposes.
Marriage is a sacrament in a Church, Mosque or Synagogue and Legislators determined it is between one male and one female. The Constitution also covers the Church's, Mosques, synagogue's rights to hold onto their convictions. Covered by the 1st Amendment and cannot be penalized for their beliefs.

If the California marriage amendment passes, whats the next step in the fight for marriage equality?
I hope the amendment doesnt pass, but somehow its hard to be optimistic given that the most recent polls show it passing. If it does pass, whats the next step in the fight for marriage equality? It would be such a huge setback that I fear the ramifications if it passes.
Answer: First of all, you don't listen to a word those polls say, you understand me? The controversy bubbling up around all polls in this issue has grown to extreme amounts. Whatever happens, you mustn't let anything the media tells you affect your stance on this. Lies are a cunning weapon, and the Yes side seems to favor them.
Now, we do what any good American citizen does: we fight back. You cannot stop an idea by passing a law against it, and by God, we won't be stopped. The resistance has to be, of course, nonviolent, but we can resist, nevertheless. We have to call people, set up protest in defiance of the amendment. If Martin Luther King Jr. could do it in the sixties, we can sure as hell do it now. Make our own marriage bonds, raise money, and pass a bill to break the thing out of the CA Constitution - whatever. So long as we have the will to fight for equality and justice for all against those who simply "don't believe" in who we are, we have a chance. There is no way in hell I'm letting Prop 8 bigotry bullcrap stand in the way of a good future for ALL Americans.

How Was Marriage Equality Different in Maine, Maryland, and Washington?
Im writing a report about marriage equality in those three states for class.
In an article in LATimes it says "Maryland and Maine appeared poised to become the first states in the nation to back same-sex marriage at the ballot box Tuesday night, and other gay-marriage measures were on the ballot in Minnesota and Washington."
Just to clarify: For example, was the legalization of Gay Marriage in Massechussetts any different in its procedure? Was it not a ballot initiative? Because I read on the internet that it was, as well.
Im just trying to find something that distinguishes the legalization in 2012 from the legalizations in prior years.

Support for marriage equality has been rising for a few years now. How long until Americans decide that everyone has the fundamental right to enter into mutual contracts without restraint from the federal government on the basis of arbitrary moral standards?
No, no one has the fundamental right to marry, but they do have the fundamental right to equality under the law according to the equal protections clause - that means all laws must apply equally to all citizens. That means you cant issue marriage licenses to some citizens, but not others. And dogs cant consent to contracts - legal adults can.
Answer: as soon as the moral hypocrites realize the founding fathers(who they worship it seems)meant for this to be a free country, where people could live their life as THEY saw fit, not others

Not to diss Americans, they already have some states that perform same sex marriages, in Australia, no place has legalized it yet. Nowhere. The US Supreme Court might do something great this summer while in Australia, an election will he held where the conservative party will re-gain power in the parliament, further delaying marriage equality in Australia :(
Answer: Yes some states do have gay marriage. But keep in kind the US has 50 states where as Australia has 6 territories. And Australia has national civil partnership where as the US don't. Most Australians and Americans support gay marriage. Just because a conservative party is in power doesn't mean the laws won't pass. In the US gays did get some rights and old laws that limited gay rights revoked even though the conservative party was in power at the time. So most likely Australia and US will have gay marriage around the same time.

What do you think of marriage equality through the abolition of marriage as a legal institution?
Many people argue that marriage equality must be achieved by means of the government recognizing gay marriage. This is not the only option however. Why should anyone, regardless of sexual orientation, have to contract with, pay a fee to and get a license from the government in order to get married? Why should married people be taxed differently than unmarried people? Things like pooling assets and having joint custody of children can be part of private contracts. I understand that some people gain a certain sense of validation from having the government recognize their relationship; but is it really "spiritually healthy" to seek validation from an external entity, when you possess the power to create that validation yourself? How is it right for any level of government to regulate personal relationships in any way? Marriage should be an entirely private contract between any number of consenting individuals of any sexual orientation.
