How do i find a free talent agency in los angeles?
Do i need to pay money to show the world my talent?
Answer: Agents cost NOTHING upfront! They ONLY make money when YOU do. They get 10% from film/tv and commercials and 20% from commercial print.
To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.
You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:
-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.
-Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc.
-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in
DON’T
-Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!
-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print.

How does a filibuster stop a bill from passing?
I know a filibuster is when somebody wastes time talking about nothing so a bill doesnt get to the senate floor to vote. But everybody online is saying that what Texas just did is illegal because they arent allowed to vote on it after Wendy Davis filibusters. Why not? I thought it was just a time-waster and people could vote later? I read a post that says that it is illegal for the Texas Senate to vote on the bill for another two years because thats the next time they meet. Why is the Texas senate only meeting every two years?
"she can continue talking about abortion until 11:59 tonight, the bill won’t reach Governor Perry, and they would have to start all over with the bill next time they meet- 2 years from now."
^ Thats what I read
Give me straight up facts because I actually want to know this kind of stuff about government. Dont be biased just based off this whole Wendy Davis thing, because this is what Im using it learn about government in general. I know Ran Paul recently filibustered also.
Thanks jacara. Perfect answer
Weird because everyone on Tumblr is so fired up about this. Literally every single post is about this and on yahoo answers, I am the only one.
Answer: Some states only call the State Senate for special sessions, otherwise they only meet once a year or every two years. This was a Special Session, that was called for 30 days, this is the 29 day of the 30 days, and if no vote is taken then the bill in question has to wait 2 years before it can be considered again under TX Senate Law.
Edit: They can call a Special Session to attempt to change the Senate rules but that is notoriously hard to do in TX.
NY is also this way with Special Session regarding its State Constitution, if they say wanted to remove the Marriage equality from their constitution, they have to assemble a Special Session, and there is a minimum wait of 2 years for that.

Answer: UFDAD is giving you BAD Information. The agencies that he's listed ONLY take CELEBRITIES. Also, Endeavor doesn't exist. It merged with William Morris. You're wasting your money if you're mailing to those agencies without a CELEBRITY/INDUSTRY endorsement.

Why on earth would a woman want to abort her baby 20 weeks into pregnancy?
I just heard about Wendy Daviss efforts to kill the proposed bill that would make it illegal for a woman to get an abortion after 20 weeks in Texas. My question is, why would any woman (with the exception of women who are forced to abort for medical reasons) need to wait 20 f*cking weeks to decide whether or not they want to have their baby? 5 months should be more than enough time to decide and as a woman myself I could not imagine being so incompetent as to wait so long to make the decision.
I dont think its possible to not show ANY symptoms for 5 months because thats almost halfway through the pregnancy and unless it is some kind of special case a woman would know well before that.

Who are some of the most reputable talent management agents / scouts / agencies in Los Angeles?
I know for modeling Elite and Ford are top. But what about acting?
Answer: To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best.

How to feel comfortable sexually after past abuse?
When I was young (4ish) I was sexually abused by my father. In my teens, I was emotionally and physically abused. Ive had good relationships but have never been comfortable with my boyfriends sexually (I would shy away and have flashbacks of abuse).
My current relationship is wonderful and were heading towards engagement. Hes very understanding of my past and never pushes me into anything uncomfortable. But how can I overcome my sexual "roadblock"? I am seeing a counselor, and its helping slowly, but I wanted to see if anybody had any advice. Thanks!
Answer: Hi Susan,
there are a couple of good books that deal specifically with intimacy and healing for survivors of sexual abuse;
The Survivor's Guide to Sex - Staci Haines
Incest and Sexuality - Wendy Maltz and Beverly Holman
The Courage to Heal - Ellen Bass and Laura Davis
There is also some information on the SECASA website www.secasa.com.au you might find useful.
I hope this helps.

Do you think Texas Sen. Wendy Davis will successfully filibuster the proposed abortion ban today?
I think shell be able to do it. 13 hours is tough, but that woman is even tougher. I dont think Rick Perry would call yet another special session because it would be strictly ON abortion if he did. And thats too much negative publicity.
After this, though, I really think Davis will run for either governor or US Senate.
Answer: I hope so, but talking for 13 hours is tough. She needs testimonies from real people to read out. You can contribute your story here:

Wendy Davis (born May 16, 1963) is an American politician who represents District 10 in the Texas Senate. She previously served on the Fort Worth city council.
Has any woman politician in the history of US government ever successfully filibustered?
Long enough to defeat a bill?
If so, who was it, and what was the bill?
Also, do you think State Senator, Wendy Davis, (D-Ft Worth) now in her 6th hour filibustering, will be successful? What is your prediction and thoughts?

Who sings the song for the Foxtel Box Office Launch August 2010 Commercial?
All i know is that the song is called "Superstar"!
Answer: The song is 'Superstar' and it is by Andrew Bojanic, Elizabeth Hooper, Jim Marr & Wendy Page.
It is production music (published by Extreme Production Music USA (ASCAP)) and doesn't appear available for sale to the public.
Bojanic and Hooper are also a writer/producer duo - Wizardz of Oz

You could contact them and ask who the artist is and if it is available for public purchase. It could be one of the acts they produce, session musicians or they might have performed some of the parts in the song.

According to a response on Cassie Davis' Facebook page, she didn't write the song --
Mark -- Foxtel are using a great song for their Box Office promo ad (August 2010) and it sounds a lot like you. Going by the lyrics the song sounds as though it would be called "Superstar". Are you able to confirm it is you ? And if it is you, will the song be included on your new album ?

How do I get an agent?
I know Id probably have to live in either LA or NY to get an agent. Im thinking and planning on living in California next fall and I was wondering how I go about getting and agent? And I dont want any John Robert Powers crap that isnt real.
I know you can send your resume and headshot to an agency but tons of people send their photo and resume and so those just get cast aside. Im talking about like auditions for agents and casting calls.
