Are there any books similar to "Under the Dome" or "The Stand"?
I am a total book worm, and have just recently finished reading "Under the Dome" by Stephen King, and Ive also read and loved "The Stand" by him also. I want to read a book similar to them, but I dont really have a preference over the author, although SK has to be my favorite. Any suggestions?
Answer: Try these King books if you haven't already:

Whats the best way to learn how to write in Third Person Omniscient?
I want to write my novel in Third Person Omniscient, but whenever I try it always sounds bland and scattered. I enjoy reading in books that are in this point of view, especially Stephen King (most notably Under the Dome). So I guess I am just looking for some tips and tricks to writing in this POV!
Thank you all for your time!
Answer: I think the best way to learn how to write in third person is to practice. I am currently writing a book in third person and it's pretty similar to writing in first person, but you don't use "I", "me", or "my" in it. (I switch back to first person all the time) Practice describing things in first, then practice describing the same thing in third over again. Third person can be difficult to write in because you're not in your character's head, so make sure to add their emotions, and occasionally add in some of their thought. However if you're planning on adding their thoughts, don't continually switch back and forth between characters over and over again, because it could get confusing. When I write in third I usually have a specific amount of time I spend expanding each character to make a connection with the reader and them, and that is always important. Good luck, I hope I helped.

What book should I read first? Game of thrones or under the dome?
I just bought game of thrones and under the dome. Both are rated high and seem like great books. They are very long and will probably take me at least a month to read so I need help deciding which one will be more worth my time.
Answer: Tough call. Both were excellent.
If you read Game of Thrones first, you're going to be compelled to go on to read the others in the series, at least up to the 4th book. So, in my opinion, reading that one first is making a commitment to that story for about 4000 pages.
I'd go with Under the Dome first. When it's over, it's over, and then you can read Game of Thrones.
EDIT: If graphic violence and sex are not things you can handle in a book, you shouldn't read either of these. Likewise, if keeping a lot of characters straight is difficult for you, you'll have problems with both books. :)

Are the "Leatherheads" from Stephen Kings Under the Dome the same race as Pennywise from IT?
The symbol on the alien device in Under the Dome is the same as the one on Pennywises lair in IT. Is this supposed to suggest that Pennywise and the Leatherheads are the same race?

he never finished Under the Dome until now.

THE TALK; A Fertile Imagination
In the late spring of 2006, Fritz Haeg spent a frenzied Memorial Day tearing apart a suburban front yard in Lakewood, Calif., a tidy postwar planned community 25 miles south of Los Angeles. What are the best books to read about apocalyptic events?
I dont really like far fetched plots such as dragons and lots of shallow characters but prefer real style fiction. I have read such books such as the hunger games and under the dome by Stephen king, my favourite being under the dome. I am a 14 year old male who has an advanced reading ability so adult books with a more complex plot would Be ok. Im thinking along the lines of the walking dead or revolution except in book form. Thanks a lot :)

I am looking for a vintage dancing ballerina under a dome. Where can I find one?
I had a dancing or spinning ballerina music box under a dome in the early 1960s. I would love to have one now for sentimental reasons. I purchased one on ebay, but its not exactly like the one I used to have. I think mine may have been a Cody Creations music box. The music played was a waltz. I know there must be one somewhere!

What are some really good books by Stephen King?
Ive seen a couple of his movies and now I would like to read his books. I heard Duma Key and Under the Dome were pretty good. I would like a book that grabs your attention from the moment you start reading it.
Ive already seen the movies: Misery, Pet Cemetery Cujo, The Green Mile, and Dreamcatcher. So any of these books I really wouldnt like to read.
Have ideas?
Answer: Hey,
I've read Under the Dome, It's really good :) Definitely worth a read.
If you're looking for pure horror i suggest:
-IT (Captures you from the start, good plot and good action, long book though)
-Dreamcatcher (Another good book from him)
- Pet Semetary (I know you seen the film, but the book is way different, and more creepy. Besides movies are never as good as the book) It's one of my faverites.
-The Stand (Brilliant book, worth a read, pretty big though)
-Carrie (Short book, his first one, has horror and creepyness)
-The Long Walk (Yet another good one)
I know you didnt want the books from films, but i believe the books are better, they leave so much out of the films. I really recommend you read them.

If i had a floating dome in my pool with 4 sides all giant magnifying style glass on each side. Would it heat?
up my pool? it would seem to me to get very hot under the dome and give the pool some serious heat.
Answer: All the solar energy is falling on the pool anyway. The glass will absorb some of it, not increase the total amount. Using a magnifying glass or not is irrelevant.
However if you cover the whole pool with something that cuts out the wind, you will stop the main cause of losing heat. An opaque cover that stops heat loss by radiation at night would also help.
You can estimate how long it would take to heat the pool by solar radiation alone. The absolute maximum amount of energy (with the sun directly overhead) is about 450 W/m^2. You have to reduce that to account for the sun's angle, and for any clouds or air pollution reducing the amount of energy reaching the earth's surface. Water has a very high specific heat, so you would probably only get 1 or 2 deg C rise in temperature per day for a reasonably deep pool, even assuming no heat loss.
I agree the air inside your dome would soon get very hot, but air has a very low heat capacity compared with water several feet deep.

Is Under The Dome by Stephen King a Good Book?
My friend recently let me borrow her copy of Under The Dome by Stephen King. Im a big fan of most of Stephen Kings novels so I was excited to read it. I then got the book and saw that it was basically a cube. I dont want to start this massive book unless I know that it is going to be a worthwhile book, so if you could leave a review, I would greatly appreciate it!
Answer: Under the Dome is a page turner. There is alot of action that keeps escalating. The ending is much like Insomnia (which is like 10 pages shorter than War and Peace), you will pretty much say "WTF?" as you read through it.
If I were you, I would opt to get ahold of "Needful Things" instead. Its a shorter read but still has the page-turning action you get out of reading Under the Dome (with a better end IMO).

What did you think of Under The Dome by STEPHEN KING?
Its almost Christmas and Ive been looking back at the year - right back to the very start of January when me and my family were all reading Under The Dome. We have such good memories of reading that book and if it wasnt for Kings latest Full Dark No Stars wed probably read it again.
Post your reviews. Have a response.
Best, Marcus
Answer: I liked up to a certain point. I love King's books but Under the Dome seemed to be a retread of a couple of previous books [Needful Things, The Tommyknockers] and was badly in need of editing.
His more recent books for the most part have suffered from similar problems. Doesn't mean I won't be reading Full Dark No Stars however.
